Farmhouse. c C15 core, C16 ceiling of open hall, later alterations. Rubble
stone walls and Bradstone walls. Slate roof with gable ends. One brick stack
at centre, on ridge. 2 storeys. 3 windows; 2, 3 and 4-light wooden casements
with some leaded lights and old glass. The upstairs 4-lighter is c C17. Front
door at right hand end, plank, C20 with a single light. Interior: 2 jointed-
cruck trusses survive. Collar beam with possible smoke-blackening. Originally
an open-hall house. Deep-chamfered beams in large compartments, later C16.
Fireplace lintel, cambered with a big straight chamfer with filleted stops.
Owing to extensive C20 rebuilding, the original plan-form is unclear. "RCHM,
Dorset I", p 264 (15).
