Terrace. 1860s. Gault brick with red brick dressings and stucco and painted
freestone detailing. Italianate Gothic style. Symmetrical composition:4
storeys, attic and basement to 6-bay centre and 4-bay end blocks which
breakforward, 14-bay linking wings of 3 storeys, attic and basement. Each house
2 bays. Stucco porches with stilted arches contain half-glazed doors with
overlights. Tripartite sashes. Continuous 1st floor balcony. First floor,
centre and end blocks have tripartite round-arched sashes divided by ornamented
columns with foliate capitals supporting pointed arches with red brick banding
and stucco hood moulds. Keystone masks to centre. Linking wings have 2 light
round-arched sashes divided by columns with round relieving arches and square
heads. Heads in roundels and other motifs to spandrels. Red-brick band at
impost level. 2nd floor, sashes, flat-arched to wings, round-arched with banded
pointed arches. 3rd floor stucco band with roundels. Similar 3rd floor
windows. Cornice and attic surmounted by balustrade to centre and end blocks.
Linking wings have mansard roof with dormers.
