House dated 1736. Attached to No. 1 (q.v.) now forms part of the Cross Hotel
No. 46 Towngate (q.v.). Rubble brought to course. Doorway with tie-stone jamb
has cyma moulded surround over which is unique decorative tablet incribed

" 1 7 H E 3 6 " (Henry and Elizabeth Foster) illustrating man and woman
carved in shallow relief wearing contemporary dress. To right, 2 bays of 4-
light double chamfered mullioned windows one altered and extended with inserted
doorway out of sympathy. Rear has 1st floor taking-in door blocked. Right hand
return wall has coped gable with kneelers. Lacks stack.
