SO 51 NW WHITCHURCH CP LEWSTONE

approximately 10 m north-
west of Lewstone Farmhouse

Granary with adjoining barn. Late C18, altered C20. Sandstone rubble, slate
roofs. Rectangular plan aligned south-west/north-east with granary section to
north-east and barn section to south-west. Two-bay granary, two storeys,
altered openings, one square-headed opening to first floor and two doorways
to ground floor; three-bay barn to south-west, with central opening and
inserted floor to south-west bay, with C20 inserted windows, two loop vents
to north-east bay over continuous row of square pigeon nesting boxes with
continuous alighting ledge below eaves. Circular owl hole in square panel
to north-east gable with C20 inserted windows below. Building retains
picturesque smeared render. Collar-and-tie-beam trusses retaining inclined
struts.
