House. Circa 1840, with later C19 alterations at rear. Painted
brick with stuccoed front. Welsh slate roof with gable at front
and with gabled ends, the deep gable verges with ornate openwork
wavey bargeboards and finials. Rendered brick gable end stacks.
PLAN: 2-room plan front range with central entrance, the lower
back range probably originally contained service rooms and
appears to have been heightened. The basement is entered from
the left (E) side.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey, attic and basement. Symmetrical 3-window
north front. Ground floor central doorway with panelled and
glazed door in reeded doorcase and wooden lattice porch; flanked
by canted bay windows with 16-pane and 8-pane sashes; first
floor 2 16-pane and 1 canted 12-pane sashes in mould stucco
architraves, the centre with cornice on console brackets; 2
smaller windows in gables with moulded architraves and 6-pane
casements. In the angle on left with rear range small glazed
cantilevered conservatory with glazing bars, tinted roof, glazed
double doors and basement door and window below. On W side 2-
gabled bays, the narrower right bay (rear range) with 2-storey
canted brick bay window.
INTERIOR: Most of the original joinery survives including dog-
leg staircase, panelled doors, some with 5 panels, and C19
fireplace, grates and simple chimneypieces in chambers. The
right hand (W) front and rear rooms made into one room.
