Pair of cottages. Early C19. Probably for Thomas Bowyer, d.1824. Rendered timber-frame with
pantile roof and gault brick ridge stack. Single-unit with pantry plan. Single storey and attic;
2-window range of single- and 2-light C20 casements. 2 2-light horizontal sliding sash dormers
above. Part-glazed doors. Interiors not inspected. This little altered pair of cottages is probably
among those built by Thomas Bowyer for his workforce. He was an important local merchant
operating trading activities on the Swaffham Lode from a nearby wharf. (RCHM (North East
Cambs.); p.111; Mon.49)
