Later C19 brick building of 3 storeys with slate roof hipped at ends, and
with bracketted eaves board. Gault brick front with band and rusticated
quoins, 10 window range of double-hung sashes to the 2 upper storeys. Above
the whole of the ground floor is a cornice with paired brackets. No 25 has
rusticated treatment with arched heads to the 2 central windows, and entrance
doorway on the right, and the cart entrance on the left. No 26 has a modernised
shop front with 2 entrances. The windows to the upper storeys have moulded
surrounds (2 side windows with arched heads to No 25), and on the 1st floor
4 windows have flat cornice heads on carved brackets. The building is prominently
sited on the north side of the Market Place and is an important element in
the principal scene of the town
Market Place Wine Shop and Nos 25 to 29 (consec) form a group.
Also Nos 25 & 26 form a group with No 42 (King's Arms) Thoroughfare.
