Farmhouse, now divided. Early C16 with late C19 and early to mid-C20
alterations and additions. Timber framed with red brick nogging; partially
refaced, rebuilt, and extended in red brick; plain tile roofs. T-plan;
probable former open hall of 2 framed bays to left with C19 addition,
and projecting gabled cross-wing of 3 framed bays to right. One storey and
attic with 2-storey and attic cross-wing. Hall range with dentil brick
eaves cornice, central ridge stack and small C19 integral brick end stack
to left; two C20 gabled eaves dormers to right with 3-light metal casements
and gabled semi-dormer to left with late C20 casement; cross-wing with external
lateral brick stack to right. Framing in cross-wing: large scantling,
close studding with middle rail. 4-window front to hall range, late C19
and C20 casements; segmental-headed doorway in angle of cross-wing to
right with 6-panelled door and flat-roofed porch. Cross-wing with 2-light
attic casement and 3-light ground- and first-floor casements. 3 dormers
to hall range at rear. Entrances to Nos. 1 and 3 at rear. Interior:
evidence of smoke-blackening in roof to hall range; cross-wing has collar
and tie-beam roof trusses with queen-struts, and staggered purlins; chamfered
beams throughout; C17 boarded doors remain in Nos. 2 and 3, including that
under the stairs in No.2. The first floors and stack in the left-hand
range are probably a late C16 or C17 insertion in a former-open hall.
