GV II

House. Probably mid-to late C16, partially rebuilt and extended in late
C20. Timber framed with red brick nogging; plain tile roofs. L-plan;
hall range to left of 2 framed bays and gabled cross-wing to right of
2 framed bays. One storey and attic. Three C20 gabled dormers with 2-
light wooden casements to hall range; hall range with central brick
stack behind ridge and truncated red sandstone external lateral stack to
right of cross-wing. Framing: that to hall range mainly rebuilt with
square panels and short straight braces, some C17 framing at rear; that to
cross-wing close-studded with middle rail and long straight tension braces.
Hall range with one- and 2-light C20 wooden casements and lean-to roofed
porch in angle to right with 6-panelled door flanked by casements; C20
addition under same roof to left with pair of steel garage doors. Cross-
wing gable-end has jettied first floor with moulded bressumer and shaped
brackets, and collar and tie-beam truss with V-struts; C20 three-light
wooden casement on each floor. Close-studded lean-to to rear of cross-
wing; C20 addition to rear of hall range. Interior: chamfered and
stopped beams; chamfered cross-beam ceiling in left-hand bay of hall
range with broach stops; open fireplace in cross-wing.
