C17. (Datestone, now covered, reported to have read 1616). Manor house,
altered. Coursed rubble (part rendered). Three gabled stone slate roof.
2 storeys. East elevation: ground floor; central doorway in recent stone
porch. One 10-light stone mullioned window (double chamfered)(central King
mullion) (2 side lights blocked). Above is hood mouldings with decorative
squared stop to each end, with rounded motif with geometric pattern. One
3-light stone mullioned window (chamfered) (later) and of larger proportions.
First floor: one 7-light stone mullioned window (double chamfered) with hood
moulding over with decorative round stop at each end with "three-legged motif"
In apex is small light or vent, with semicircular head (now blocked). One
3-light stone mullioned window (chamfered), one 2-light stone mullioned window
(chamfered), to right. South elevation: ground floor; one 5-light stone mullioned
window (double chamfered) (2 mullions removed) (hood moulding over). First
floor; one 4-light stone mullioned window. One 2-light stone mullioned windows.
West elevation: west to south breaks forward with central external chimney
with raking offsets. Ground floor; one 2-light stone mullioned window (double
chamfered and hood moulding over). First floor; one 3-light stone mullioned
window (double chamfered and hood moulding over). One 2-light stone mullioned
window. Centre and north wings have later single and 2-light windows. It
has been reported that John Wesley spent the night at the Manor House on 21
February 1746.
