Originally a working men's club, later a Royal British Legion club. 1883. Designed by George
Sherrin and built for Samuel Courtauld's workers at Townsford Mill. Queen Anne style. Built
in red brick in Flemish bond with hipped tiled roof and bellcote tiled to base, but shingled spire
with metal finial. One storey. Front has projecting curved pediment with datestone of 1883 and
letters SC&Co. Below are a pair of tall sashes with horns and ovolo moulding under shared
apron. Moulded brick ovolo cornice and 4 swag panels. Doorcase in left angle has brick pilasters,
entablature and arched opening with keystone and tympanum with carved roses and central shield
with SC&Co. Double door. Side elevation of one storey with 3 cambered sashes with aprons
divided by pilasters. One storey later extension to rear in matching style.
