Offices and shops. 1904 on date stone. J. Owen Bond. Slate roof
Corner site. 3 storeys plus attic storey. Square corner turret with
blind windows, diagonal buttressing and domed roof with finial. 5 bay
curved principal facade, corner bay and 3 bays to yard. Later C20
shopfronts. Renaissance detail to first floor with rustication continued
up on the pilasters. Semi-circular arched sash windows with margin lights.
The 3 central bays are recessed with 2nd floor Ionic columns supporting a
frieze and heavy cornice. The frieze displays the name Burlington Build-
ings. 2nd floor sash windows with eared architrave and balconies supported
on the first floor keystone and by reclining figures. 3 attic windows
with flat arches flanked by Ionic columns supporting open segmental pedi-
ments. The end attic windows are recessed with rusticated surrounds with
exaggerated keystones and open bracketed pediments supported by rusticated
Ionic columns. The open well stair staircase has turned balusters, newel
posts decorated with wheat-ear drops, pendants and carved brackets.
Ironwork balustrading on the first floor landing. The principal first
floor room has a fine plasterwork ceiling, elaborate window and door
surrounds and a pedimented fireplace surround.
