Former canon's house now offices. 1882 by J.L. Pearson. Red brick with
plenty of stone dressings, slate roofs. Restrained Tudor-Gothic style with
simple and effective flush setting of stone dressings with brickwork. 2
storeys and basement with attics in gabled roofs. 3 window wide north and
south fronts, the main and more elaborated one facing north into garden
with the outer window bays advanced and gabled. Central 4-centred arched
doorway with moulded jambs and drip mould. Stone mullioned and transomed
iron framed casements with cusped arches under squared heads, carried
across full width of advanced gabled bays with stone dressings run up the
angles; weathered sill courses and flush stone bands, stone coped gables.
External chimney stacks to flanks and twin chimney stacks to centre ridge
linked by stone bridge-capping with blank tracery. Plainer but similar
rear south elevation behind Precinct wall overlooking Great College Street.
