6/20 The Glen Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse, latterly divided into 2 cottages, now one house. Mid-C18, extended and
converted into 2 cottages in mid-C19 with later additions and alterations. Painted
roughly coursed slate-stone with painted brick dressings to Cl9 part, slate roof,
with ceramic cresting to left of ridge stack. Original C18 house extended to right
in C19 (right part slightly projects). 2 storeys. Row C19 multi-paned casements
directly below eaves, 2 to each part. Ground floor of C18 part has half-glazed
door under lean-to hood to left, horned glazing bar sash to centre and mid-C20
metal casement in position of infilled doorway to right, 2 latter openings with
voussoirs and projecting keystones to segmental heads. C19 part has 4-panel door
(top panels glazed) to left and C19 casement to right. Prominent ridge stack
(formerly and end stack) at junction between 2 parts and stepped external end stack
to right. 3-bay cowhouse attached to left gable end. Interior: House retains several
panelled and plank doors. Right room on both floors has inset wall cupboards with
carved curved shelves to right wall.
