Latin motto (meaning: Remember the brevity of life) more commonly found on sundials; unknown significance of the two 'Latinised' inscriptions on Jacobo Ewbanks' house and the almost religious style of this particular section of the building, with its empty lancet niche and cross arrow slits on the first floor
