Town Hall. 1900 by W. T. Unwin. Red brick with stone dressings and steeply
pitched slate roof. Two storeys surmounted by clock tower and spire.
Fenestration of hung sashes with adjoining raised surrounds and ogee heads.
Moulded band between storeys. Five stage elaborate clock tower and spire
with porch to ground stage. Roundheaded arch to double doorway flanked by
paired tapering pilasters with stepped cornice and date stone above. Clock
tower is enriched by stone detail and has a steep roof of copper surmounted
by a bell turret and a figure of Britannia.
