School, now part of shop. 1856, enlarged 1869. Limestone ashlar with roofs
of tile and stone slate. Two storeys. At the right are three chamfered
trefoiled lights on the ground floor. on the first floor are two similar
lights with a round opening above, partly within a gable. To its left an
octagonal turret is corbelled out at first floor level and has an open timber
bellcote with steep roof and weathervane. At the right a clock projects
forwards on cast iron brackets and is dated "1887". To each side of this
part of the building there is a coping; the left-hand one with a chimney,
the right-hand one with a bellcote. Set back at the left is a gable which
has four trefoiled lights above a mid-C20 bus shelter and a trefoiled open-
ing. To its right is a gabled porch with pointed doorway, and inscription:
St Michael's Church School ..... AD The The gables are coped, the left-
hand one with cross finial. Interior: left-hand (east) first floor room has
exposed roll-moulded trusses with arch-braced collars and a ceiling at collar
level. Floor probably inserted into former schoolroom.
