ST 66 NE KELSTON BATH ROAD, KELSTON (west side)

Row of 4 estate cottages, (now 3 cottages and 9 and 10 are one), possibly
almshouses. Circa 1860's, for Inigo-Jones estate. Coursed rubble with
freestone dressings and quoins; slate roof with coped raised verges on moulded
kneelers; ashlar stacks with moulded cornice. In a plain C17 style.
2 storeys. One window per cottage: 3-light casement on ground floor, 2-light
on first floor, in chamfered mullions and surrounds and under dripmoulds. Outer
doors to outer houses and paired inner doors; plank doors in chamfered surrounds
and under straight dripmoulds. Central ashlar gable with a pair of armorial
bearings surmounted by a pediment under a finial and with the initials "IJ" on
the tympanum. Further shield plaques with initials over outer doors. Central
inscription reads: "IN/MEMORIAM". Part of an intact and unaltered mid-
Victorian estate village.
