Farmhouse and shippon. Early to mid C17 house, remodelled in the mid to late C19.
Probably late C18 early C19 shippon. Rendered, probably over stone rubble, with
gable-ended asbestos slate roof. C17 rendered stone square stacks with weatherings.
Stone rubble shippon with some cob on top of walls and gable-ended corrugated-iron
roof.
Plan and development: C17 three-room plan house, facing south-east. End rooms with
integral end stacks and small central unheated room with passage to rear. C17 two-
storey outshut to rear of centre and right-hand end, incorporating C17 staircase to
rear of central room. Right-hand room with entrance to right, probably formerly the
principal room. The C19 remodelling included fenestration and probably the raising
of the eaves. Shippon adjoining to left, probably a post C17 addition. Two storey
house with shippon of one storey and loft.
Exterior: Roughly-symmetrical front; mainly mid to late C19 two- and 3-light wooden
casements, with transoms to first floor and small panes to ground floor. C20 left
hand ground-floor window. C20 glazed door to right under C20 flat-roofed porch
between house and outbuilding (not included). Two-light staircase window to rear.
Front of shippon with half-height boarded door to left and C20 metal casement to
right; gable end to left has loft opening with wooden lintel.
Interior: Right-hand ground-floor room has C17 chamfered cross beam and wall beam
with scroll stops, and open stone fireplace with rebuilt jambs but retaining C17
chamfered wooden lintel with scroll stops. Left-hand ground-floor room with
longitudinal joists and fireplace with sandstone ashlar jambs and wooden lintel.
