C17 timber-frame cottage with whitened brick infill and stone ground floor.
Steeply pitched plain tile roof with gabled ends. Two storeys. First
floor old oriel window probably C18, splayed and with few lights with leaded
panes. Ground floor plank door and casement. Internal brick stack at
gable end. Adjoining at right angles to Lantern Cottage (qv) the gable
end of which runs through the end of Thornton Cottage.
