Shelter shed, barn, byres and farm cottage, all attached. Early C19 with some
C20 alterations. Coursed rubble, stone dressings and quoins, stone tiled roofs
with raised coped verges and finials to barn gables, byres partially roofed in
corrugated asbestos. Barn has shelter shed attached to east, byres in L-plan to
west forming courtyard, with further range of byres to west and cottage at west
end of range. Shelter shed has south front with arcade of 3 segmental-headed
openings, two 2-light gabled dormers with some leaded lights remaining, right
return has external stair to loading door with gabled porch on wooden frame.
Interior: 4-bay roof, collar, one row of purlins, floor to upper storey missing.
Barn has east elevation with segmental-haded cart entry, ventilation slit to each
side, blocked to left; south elevation has owlhole in gable end and single storey
addition with 2 doors and 4-pane window, small slit in gable end; west elevation
has high gabled cart entry, 3 pigeon holes in gable end, single storey lean-to
left and right. Interior: 7-bay roof with tie-beam and king-post trusses.
Single storey byres attached to west has north range of 6 open-fronted bays with
wide ashlar piers supporting eaves, west range has 2 doors and 3-pane window under
eaves, corrugated asbestos roof, further 5-bay range continuing line of north
range, open-fronted, with corrugated asbestos roof. Interior: not inspected.
Attached at end to west, cottage of 2 storeys and 2 windows, central door, window
at first floor left breaking through eaves line. Interior: not inspected.
Cottage in poor condition at time of survey (October, 1984), stone tiled roof
partially missing.
