Probably C18 origin with later alterations. 2 storey stuccoed 1 window
gable end facing down Esplanade. Slightly bowed sash windows, glazing
bars intact. 2 window stuccoed front towards sea, sashes with glazing
bars intact. Former trellis porch, now boarded and glazed with tent-shaped
roof. Slate gable end roof has replaced thatch and has wide bracketed
eaves. The house forms part a group, between the cliff edge and Peak
Hill Road at the western end of the Esplanade, that is one of Sidmouth's
most characteristic features.
All the listed buildings in Clifton Place form a group.
