8/122 Toghill House Farmhouse

Farmhouse, formerly part of estate of Tracy Park (q.v.). Dated WA/1691 at rear,
1861 at front, with later alteraions and additions. Limestone ashlar and
rubble, slate roof with raised coped verges and prominent kneelers, gable stacks,
asbestos slates in centre valley. L-plan, symmetrical front. 2 storeys and
5 windows, central 2-storey gabled porch with finials, 2:1:2 windows, all 2-light
casements of 4 panes each, chamfered mullion and reveal, cill, all windows paired
with hood mould over except first floor central window in gable of porch, also
with hood mould, central opening with chamfered, 4-centred arch, carved leaves in
spandrels, hood mould, initials C.R.D. (for Charles Rex Davy) and pennant with
motto "AUSPICE CHRISTO", shield with coat of arms above window and small light in
gable; porch has inner benches and double door with decorative iron handles.
Left return has ground and first floor single light with hood mould and small
attic window; rear wing (rubble) has 2-light casement at ground floor with
chamfered mullion and first floor C20 window. Right return has window at first
floor and attic as at left. Rear has single storey wing with C20 window and
porch, original L-plan infilled by 2nd single storey addition, first floor window
with ogee head, wave-moulded surround, initials and date in spandrels, hood mould,
rear C20 porch. Interior: former external window remaining at rear of 2 lights
with ovolo mullion, and former head of door, segmental arch with strap moulding,
other features of C19.
