Farmhouse. C17 with early C19 and c.1930 alterations and additions. Rubble,
rendered, stone dressings, concrete double Roman tiled roof with raised coped
verges and kneelers, stepped stonework under verges, gable stacks; slate roof to
porch to left, double Roman tiled rear lean-to. L-plan. 2½ storeys, 3 windows,
ground floor has two 2-light casements in longer moulded architraves, lower part
blocked, 3 panes each side, central door of 2 panels with glass insertions, first
floor has 20-pane sashes. Right return has 2-light cellar window with ovolo
mullion and recessed architrave, first floor has taller 2-light window with ovolo
mullion and floating cornice; left return has 4-pane attic window with timber
lintel, rear wing has C20 window and door with timber lintel and weathered cornice,
rear wash-house block has C20 porch. Rear has 18-pane boxed sash at ground floor
left, C20 window lighting stair, single storey lean-to; 2-storey rear wing has
boxed sash and C20 window at ground floor, two 16-pane sashes at first floor, to
rear of wing a single storey lean-to with-light casement with ovolo mullions and
recessed architrave, 2 roof-lights. Interior: entrance hall has curved open-
string stair with moulded newel, stone stair to cellar. Front right room has
moulded marble fireplace with arched recess to each side, plain cornice, boxed
beams, shutters to windows. Rear kitchen has chamfered beam with step and scroll
stops, stone chamfered Tudor arched fireplace with carved wooden overmantel, above
door to left a cupboard with L-shaped hinges and carved panel. First floor room
to right has ceiling level raised, chamfered beam to front left room; 6-bay roof
to main block and 3-bay to rear wing of C19 construction with tie-beam, cambered
collars, purlins and upper row of purlins set at angles, ridge purlin, screen
dividing roof space with door of 3 planks between.
