Walls on bridge and tunnel entries. Early C19. Coursed limestone rubble,
sandstone dressings, limestone, brick. Top of bridge has limestone rubble walls
with sandstone coping, about 8 metres long and one metre high, central part of
wall to north built up above coping in rubble with sandstone coping. North
tunnel entry has flanking walls about 3 metres long and 5 metres high with string
course and rusticated coping; round-arched tunnel entry has flanking pilasters in
rusticated sandstone, rusticated string course carried across pilasters and head
of tunnel, rectangular recess above with carved coat of arms of Codrington family
in centre, rusticated coping over all. South tunnel entry has similar flanking
walls only about 1½ metres long, segmental headed opening at base to left,
limestone quarter basins on rusticated sandstone plinths set in corners to right
and left; similar pilasters, large rusticated keystone to head of tunnel entry,
similar coat of arms set centrally at top of parapet wall breaking through coping.
Part of planned route around Dodington Park, supporting western approach road to
Dodington House.
