Description

DIPTFORD
Bank barn immediately south
SX75NE west of Beenleigh farmhouse

5/191

GV II

Bank barn. Circa early C19. Slate rubble. Corrugated iron roof with
gabled ends. Rectangular on plan with lean-to on the front right.
Shippons on the ground floor with entrances at the front and hay barn above
with access from the higher ground at the back. The purpose of the lean-to
is uncertain because the interior was not inspected.
2 storeys: 4 shippon doorways on the ground floor with red brick segmental
arches, ventilation slits between the doorways. First floor central loft
loading doorway with plank doors and canopy above. Flashed by ventilation
slits. The roof over the right hand end is carried down at the front over
a 2-storey lean-to which appears to be a later extension.
Interior: not inspected.
