Small town house. c.1840, altered. Red brick in Flemish bond,
with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth
single-fronted plan with back extension to the right and
through-lobby to the left. Two storeys over cellars, a wide
2-window facade with 1st-floor sill-band, plain frieze and
moulded gutter cornice. The doorway to the right, up one step,
is elliptical-arched with gauged brick voussoirs and has a
set-in doorcase of engaged Tuscan columns with a moulded
frieze, and an elliptical fanlight (door and fanlight
altered); the lobby doorway at the left end has a chamfered
stone surround and board door. One window at ground floor and
2 above, all with with raised sills and wedge lintels (glazing
altered); cellar window with wedge lintel and grating. Ridge
chimney to left (coupled with that of No.19). Rear and
INTERIOR not inspected. Forms part of an almost complete set
of late Georgian lower-middle class houses in this street.
