Pair of attached houses. c1850. Limestone ashlar with party
wall and lateral stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan.
Neoclassical style. Each of 2 storeys and basement, 2-window
range. A wide, symmetrical pair in 4 sections, the outer ones
with banded ground floor and banded first-floor pilasters, a
wide central banded pilaster, with sill bands, plat band,
cornice and a deep, coped parapet. Outer single-storey porches
have pilasters to an entablature, with 8-panel doors set back
with a semicircular panel over. The inner windows are
tripartite with wide outer jambs to a cornice, and similar
first-floor windows with the side ones blocked and a panel
beneath, to an entablature and pediment, the right-hand one
with a wreath; the outer windows have architraves. Sashes with
glazing bars and margin panes to the right, C20 casements to
the left. A wide first-floor slate balcony to the inner
section, with bowed cast-iron balustrade. INTERIOR: cornices,
panelled shutters, and semicircular arches to stairs, now
removed.
