House. Early C18 altered early C19. Flint faced with gault
brick and with red brick dressings. Pantiled roof, mostly
black-glazed. Facade of 2 storeys and dormer attic in 5 bays.
Central 6-panelled door under overlight with 4 ogee panes.
Block doorcase with keyblocks and plain pediment. 2 mid C18
sashes right and left with 6/6 glazing bars set in flush
frames with exposed boxes. One sash-weight dated 1808 is a
replacement. Gauged skewback arches. Platband between floors.
5 similar first-floor sashes beneath moulded brick eaves
cornice with modillions. Gabled roof hipped to south-east. 3
gabled dormers fitted with early C19 two-light iron casements.
Internal gable-end stack to north-west with a C20 addition.
Gate pier, of square section with ball finial, attached to far
right of facade. Behind facade is an early C19 hipped
staircase extension, and left of this is an early C18 sash
with 6/6 glazing bars.
INTERIOR: stick baluster staircase added early C19: ramped and
wreathed handrail. Roof has chamfered principals and butt
purlins.
OUTBUILDINGS: running north-east is a range of 2-storey flint
and brick-dressed outbuildings under a gabled pantile roof.
Roof in 2 pitches, probably reflecting extension in early C19
of late C18 original block. Various stable and carriage house
doorways and windows. Heavy interior timbers, re-used.
Brick gate piers at Nos 14 & 16 were listed on 10.03.71.
