Office Building. 1870's. Stone with basement. 4 storeys
with basement and attic, 4 bays. Basement rusticated, C20
shop door and window. Ground floor Doric colonnade with red
granite columns,bases obscured by shop sign, round-headed
windows with carved cherubs, and foliage. Frieze and
cornice projecting over columns,lst floor segmental-headed
windows with architraves and keystones. Frieze with lions
masks and swags and cornice. 2nd floor Corinthian pilastrade
with panelled pilasters. Windows with tympana above carved
with reclining figures representing the seasons. Cornice
over. 3rd floor windows have rounded upper corners; 1:3:1:
Bracketed cornice with swags. Shaped gable with Diocletian
window and scrolled side panels. Lettering reads "MASON'S
BUILDINGS", crest above. Rear facade plainer but carefully
detailed.
