Dated 1909. Memorial to Captain Webb. Lion-head drinking fountains over the plinth.
Pedimental gables over panelled sides with inscriptions and medallions. Captain
Matthew Webb, who was born in Dawley 1848, was the first to swim the English Channel
and died in an attempt to swim the Niagara Rapids in 1883. There is a modern lamp
on top of the finial.
