House, now commercial and residential premises. c1830-1840.
Limestone ashlar to front; stucco and coursed limestone rubble
to right side; coursed squared limestone to left side and
rear. Welsh slate hipped roof; truncated stacks to left and
right, to left in ashlar, to right rebuilt in concrete
blockwork.
3 storeys and cellar; 3-window range. Three 6/6-pane sashes in
plain reveals with stone cills to first floor; three similar
3/3-pane sashes above. Two 6/6-pane sashes in moulded stone
architraves with stone cills to ground floor. Moulded stone
doorcase with attached Doric columns, blocking course over
frieze and cornice. Deep plinth contains two C20 plate glass
sashes at basement level; C20 glazed door to basement centre
under front steps. Band courses over ground floor and first
floor; moulded stone cornice and blocking course.
Contemporary railings, alternating full- and half-height, on
limestone bases ramp up to flank 4 stone steps over area to
front door; foot gate to left gives access to basement stair;
lifting section to front right for deliveries to basement.
INTERIOR: only part of ground floor inspected. Profile
cantilevered stone well staircase from ground to first floor
only (upper flights possibly removed) in stair hall reaching
to roof and lit by eight-sided lantern. Staircase has heavy
stick balusters of section to match lantern and mahogany
handrail. No fireplaces on ground floor; said to have no
original fireplaces or door furniture on upper floors. Ground
floor has heavily moulded architraves to internal doors.
