House, now restaurant. Late C17/early C18, possibly with
earlier origins with later C18, C19 and C20 alterations.
Stucco on timber-framing to front, ashlar to ground floor;
stone slate roof; rebuilt brick stack to rear. Main range to
street with contemporary rear wing.
3 storeys and attic; 3-window range. First floor has two
4/4-pane and one 6/6-pane sashes in timber architraves; second
floor has 3 similar 4/4-pane sashes. Ground floor has Gothic
arcade added 1914 with three 2-light windows with traceried
heads with leaded lights, one pair and one single part-glazed
plank door in pointed openings with traceried heads. 2 gabled
dormers with 4-pane single-light casements. C20 single-storey
extension to rear.
INTERIOR partially inspected; has C20 staircase and other C20
alterations; ground floor front has C17 stone fireplace with
deep moulded stone lintel and entablature, possibly imported,
late C18/ early C19 timber chimneypiece to ground floor rear;
second floor has fragments of raised-and-fielded timber
panelling to front left and right; two late C17 eight-panel
doors with incised moulding; parts of butt-purlin roof
structure visible to front range, rear wing has butt-purlin
roof with curved principals, 2 tiers of purlins, short yoke to
carry ridge now concealed by ceiling.
