House, now offices. Early/mid C18. Stucco with painted stone
cornices, architraves, doorcase and plinth; painted
English-bond brick wing to the left; parapeted roof not
visible; brick stacks to gable ends.
Double-depth plan.
3 storeys; 5-window range. The main house has near-symmetrical
4-window front with a single lower range to left beyond the
pilaster. The attic storey has cornice and blocking course
flanked by narrow pilasters and eared and shouldered
architraves to 3/3-pane sash windows.
The first floor, below a deeper cornice and with wider
pilasters, has keyed segmental arches to moulded architraves
and shallow aprons to 6/6-pane sashes; windows to ground floor
are similar but the lower panes of the outer ones are
plate-glass. The fine pedimented doorcase with a Gibbs
surround to left of centre has double 2-panel doors.
The range to left, formerly part of the warehouse to left, Nos
5-7 (qv), reaches the upper cornice of the main block; the
second floor is blank, first floor has a shallow segmental
arch to a 6/6-pane sash window and a wide C20 below.
INTERIOR: the central hall has an early C19 staircase to left
and a 6-panel door to rear service wing in a reeded cornice
with roundels to the corners and a fanlight with Gothick
glazing bars above. The staircase to second floor is early/mid
C18, with closed string, turned balusters and a moulded and
swept handrail.
