Terrace of 6 houses. c1840. Stucco with limestone dressings,
party wall stacks, slate and pantile mansard roofs to Nos 2 &
4, not visible to the rest. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian
style. Each of 3 storeys and basement; 2-window range.
A terrace of varying widths with coped parapets, No.6 extended
with a full attic storey; right-hand semicircular-arched
doorways have 3-pane fanlights and 6-panel doors.
Semicircular-arched ground-floor windows: 6/6-pane sashes,
No.6 has plate-glass sashes, No.8 has 3/6-pane second-floor
sashes; No.10 has a 2-storey mid C19 canted bay with cornices,
and 2 second-floor plate-glass sashes. No.2 has a tented
wrought-iron porch; first-floor balconies, No.2 with lattice
sections and panels with lyres, No.6 with C20 steel railings,
No.8 with wrought-iron railings and lattice sections. Nos 2 &
4 have mansard roofs with attics.
INTERIOR: No.10 has entrance hall divided by a semicircular
arch from a large central stairwell with a lateral open dogleg
stair with stick balusters, column newels, ramped, banded rail
and uncut string, and a cupboard between the stair and party
wall; front basement kitchen range, marble fire surrounds with
reeded jambs and corner roundels, panelled shutters and
4-panel doors.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached ramped brick walls between front
gardens.
