Town house with later shop. Probably C17.
MATERIALS: render on studwork to Middle Market Street front
and to part of left-hand return, otherwise painted rubble;
steep scantle slate roof with large eaves and verge slates; 3
original crested clay ridge tiles; truncated rendered rubble
stack to rear gable.
PLAN: double-depth plan with gable end on to street.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with 2nd floor partly in roof space at
rear (Market Street) and 2 storeys with attic to front end;
blind to 1st floor; small C20 window to centre of gable.
Ground floor has central doorway with C20 door and 3-light
shop window on its left as corner shop with similar window to
left-hand return.
Also to return: mid/late C19 4-pane hornless sash; to rubble
part on left a similar sash breaking the eaves as a raking
dormer and C20 window to each floor below, the ground floor
opening spanned by a timber lintel.
Rear, probably originally blind, has late C19 12-pane 2-light
casement to 1st floor right over a rendered area surrounding a
C20 window. INTERIOR not inspected.
