of Village Hall

GV II

Pair of estate cottages. c1835 by W A Nicholson. Coursed limestone rubble with
ashlar dressings. Steeply pitched slate roof. A single group of 4 octagonal Tudor
style white brick and ashlar ridge stacks, and a row of 4 similar lateral stacks.
Chamfered ashlar and white brick plinth. 3 bay. Single storey plus attic. To
the left a slightly projecting gabled bay with a 2-light recessed and chamfered
mullion window with glazing bar casements. Two similar windows to the right. Above
in the gable another similar window set in a slightly projecting ashlar surround
supported on 2 small brackets. This building is part of the complete estate village
erected for the Chaplin family of Blankney Hall.
