Barn. Late C17. Timber-framed, weatherboarded, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned NE-SW, with midstrey
to SE. C19 lean-to extension in E angle, roofed with
corrugated iron. C20 lean-to extension in S angle, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles as a catslide with the roof of the
midstrey. Entrance to midstrey closed with weatherboards;
plain boarded small door, and C20 casement above C20 halved
double doors to NW. INTERIOR: hardwood frame. Unjowled posts,
primary straight bracing. The studs below the girts are
tenoned and pegged. Above the girts only the braces and main
studs are tenoned and pegged. Red brick plinth in English
bond. Face-halved and bladed scarfs. Straight tie-beams,
raking struts, joggled butt-purlin roof. The tie-beam to SE of
the threshing bay has failed and has been repaired with
timber; the consequential spreading of the wallplates has been
remedied with timber splints on the NE wallplate. 3 of the
original 4 arched braces to the tie-beams remain. Inserted
floor in NW bay.
