Forester's Hall

GV II

Hall. 1896. For East Cornwall Savings Bank. Rubble masonry
with polychrome granite and freestone dressings; steep
sprocketed dry Delabole slate roof with 2 tiers of eaves
brackets. Deep plan. Venetian Gothic style. 2 storeys; 1:3:1
window range of lancets with impost string and sill string
over loggia of 3 pointed ordered arches on chamfered columns
on tall plinth to ground floor with central doorway breaching
plinth and dividing band inscribed: 'Forester's Hall 1896'.
Row of 4 trefoil-headed lancets within loggia flanked by
pointed-arched doorways with original planked doors. INTERIOR
not inspected. One of 2 vigorously designed Ruskin-derived
compositions in Liskeard, the other being the Masonic Hall
(qv) in The Parade.
