Ventilator to sewer system. c 1870. Portland ashlar. Octagonal
shaft on high base and pedestal, cavetto-mould string at c
2.5m from base, then tapered shaft to capping on ovolo mould
with frieze and necking band. Eight cast-iron vents set in
shaft c 0.5m above string. Total height c 7.5m, side of
octagon to pedestal c 570mm. Set on the cliff edge c 100m
north of the corner at the E end of The Grove, and one of 3
remaining shafts.
