II
Shirt factory. c1890s. Flemish-bond brick with Ham Hill stone
plinth, platbands, cills and cornice; half-hipped slate roof
with glazed gablet. L-shape plan. 3 storeys, 4-window range.
All windows are large, cambered arched, tripartite, with 3
rows of 4 panes to both top and bottom. Above the plinth are 4
recessed panels containing the windows; cill bands to ground
and first-floors; platbands to ground-floor, at impost-level
and above the windows. Pilasters between the bays above the
first-floor have moulded cornices to the entablature, the
cornice of which forms a cill-band to the attic storey. The
eaves have a stepped brick cornice. The right return is
similar with 5 bays and 3 windows to the centre, blank to the
sides. The ground-floor of this return has a covered
loading-bay with a fretted bargeboard and vertical glazing
between it and the lintel to the double planked doors, which
are glazed to the top. INTERIOR not inspected. Marked on OS
map of 1886 as a shirt factory. Included for group value.
