School. Late C18. Brick; hipped Welsh slate roof; brick end
stack and stacks to rear. Double-depth, central staircase
plan.
3-storeys and basement; 5-window range: 6/6 sashes in moulded
cases under gauged brick flat arches; four 3/3 sashes in
moulded cases under gauged brick flat arches; moulded and
modillioned eaves cornice; parapet; central mullion and
transom window under cambered arch and raised portion of
modillioned stone coped moulded parapet; 4 domed louvres.
Steps to central 6 fielded-panel door and gothic glazed
fanlight in round-headed case under porch with open pediment
hood on Ionic columns; flanked by pairs of mullion and transom
windows with casements under gauged brick flat arches, over
basement windows, some blocked.
Stone coped wing walls have attached wrought-iron railings.
C19 double-depth wing to left, has similar fenestration to 1st
and 2nd floors; moulded cornice and parapet; entrance to right
has 6 fielded-panel door and overlight with glazing bars,
under gauged brick flat arch; canted tripartite window with
casements and clerestory, under gauged brick flat arch, to
left.
Right return has various sashes and large mullion and transom
windows, under gauged brick flat arches; cornice and parapet
returned.
Rear elevation has pairs of mullion and transom windows with
casements and glazing bars, with pairs of 3/3 sashes over,
flanking central 6/6 sash. Ground floor has Venetian staircase
window. Returned cornice and parapet.
