House. Late C17-early C18. Pennant rubble with limestone
dressings and pantile hipped roof. Double-depth plan. 2
storeys, basement and attic; 3-window range. Symmetrical front
with central doorway and slate, hipped canopy. Windows with
moulded architraves and label moulds, 8/8-pane sashes in flush
boxes on the ground floor, C20 first-floor casements, and
small attic sashes. Mullioned basement window to the left of
the door, and 2 ovolo-moulded oculi attic windows set in
square panels, with scrolled keys. Single-window range in the
left return with ovolo-moulded cross windows, full-height
stair turret to the rear with four 2-light mullioned windows,
all with drip moulds. INTERIOR: unaltered open-well stair with
moulded uncut string, moulded rails and turned balusters, and
square newels with carved tops; contemporary fireplace with
carved stone overmantel on first floor; good plaster ceiling
with oval of St Peter, vine motifs, similar to work in
Llandoger Trow, King Street (qv). A rare survival of a
relatively unaltered late C17 farmhouse within the city
boundary.
