Pair of attached houses. 1879. Limestone ashlar, roof not
visible. Double-depth plan. Italianate style. 2 storeys and
basement; 4-window range. A symmetrical pair has clasping
giant pilasters to a frieze, cornice and parapet, and a banded
ground-floor to a plat band. A wide full-height bow to the
middle has Ionic columns to 2 doorways either side of the
party wall, the left-hand one open to a half-glazed C20 door.
The windows are set in shallow recesses, the outer first-floor
ones with bracketed canopies and curved brackets to balconies
with wrought-iron railings, the 2 on the bow with panelled
aprons and small cornices; 6/6-pane sashes with margin bars to
end houses, 2/2 panes to centre.
INTERIOR: No.19, hall with a flight of stairs with stick
balusters and fluted newels, cornices, 4-panel doors and
panelled shutters.
