Two houses. c1840. Pink and cream mottled brick in English
bond, with dressings of orange-red gauged brick and painted
stone; slate roof with coped gables and vestigial kneelers
with roll-moulded finials; brick stacks at gable ends and at
junction of 2 ranges. L-shaped on plan, on corner site. Old
Maltongate front: 2 storeys, 3 cross-gabled bays, on double
stepped plinth. Between left and centre bays, 4-panel door
beneath 4-pane overlight and flat arch. Centre bay forms
frontispiece between giant pilasters, shouldered above ground
floor, containing 12-pane sashes with painted stone sills on
both floors. Similar windows to outer bays. First-floor
windows form half-dormers beneath cross gables. All windows
have flat arches with triple keyblocks, except the
ground-floor centre one. Greengate front: 2 storeys, 3
cross-gabled bays, on single stepped plinth. Central door of 6
sunk panels beneath flat arch set back in flat-arched recess.
Ground-floor windows are 16-pane sashes; those on first floor
C20 top-hung lights of 16 panes. Left end window blocked.
Other window and gable detailing repeats that on Old
Maltongate front.
