Two houses. Late C18 with early C19 alteration. Front of
coursed squared sandstone, part on brick plinth; rear of
orange-red and pink and cream mottled brick in English
garden-wall bond. Pantile roof with brick ridge stacks in
centre and to left and right. Both houses have central-entry
plan. 2-storey 5-window front. 4-panel door beneath flat arch
of voussoirs to No.55. At left end, board door with wedge
lintel in former elliptical carriage arch, now blocked. Door
of 6 raised-and-fielded panels with divided overlight beneath
flat arch of gauged brick to No.57. All windows are 12-pane
sashes with painted stone sills, and all have flat arches.
Rear: No.55 has 12-pane sashes on first floor, and flat
2-light large-pane dormer in attic; No.57 has one 2-light
large-pane sliding sash and 2 inserted windows on first floor.
