Pair of houses. c1840. Possibly by Walter Scott. Ashlar-faced
with Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, each unit a 3-bay plan with
end entrance. Projecting single-storey porch each end with
door in stressed architrave up steps. Rusticated ground floor
with 15-pane pivotal windows replacing sashes in original
openings with stressed voussoirs. Similar 9-pane windows
above, in stressed architraves with aprons and pediment over
central window. Continuous sill band. Moulded eaves cornice,
overhanging eaves and axial stacks. Forms part of the original
Clifton Park development, laid out by Scott from the early
1840's.
