Pair of cottages. Probably late C17 or early C18; altered and
enlarged. Coursed sandstone rubble and some brick, stone slate
roofs, brick chimneys. Single-depth main range with coupled
back extensions of different dates. 2 low storeys, irregular
3-window range. No.6 has a C20 porch to the right, a
vertical-rectangular window above this with a C20 casement, 2
similar windows to the left and another above the first of
these, all with thin rectangular lintels. No.4 to the right
has one similar window on each floor and a C20 porch at the
right-hand gable. Ridge chimney at junction, gable chimney to
left. The upper part of the right-hand gable wall (No.4) is of
brick and has a stone 2-light mullioned window. Rear: No.6 has
a short rear wing which appears older than the front range, 2
low storeys, with a doorway in the angle, a 3-light chamfered
mullion window to the left of this and an altered window
above. No.4 has a larger rear wing of brick. INTERIOR:
understood to retain remnants of cruck framing.
