Barn approximately 30 metres
south-east of Lower Pimbo Farmhouse

Barn and shippon. Early to mid C18, enlarged and altered.
Watershot coursed sandstone rubble, asbestos sheet roof hipped
at left end. L-plan composed of 3-bay shippon range on
east-west axis (plus added bay at west end) with 2-bay barn
wing on south side of 1st bay, and an added outshut at the
east end of the shippon range. The north front of the shippon
range is 2-storeyed and has former shippon doorways to the 1st
and 3rd bays (the latter blocked), a feeding passage doorway
in the centre with a stable door, and external steps across
the 3rd bay to loft doorways in this and the added 4th bay
(the latter doorway with a re-used heavily-studded
double-layered plank door). The east front of the barn has a
central waggon doorway with a pegged wooden doorcase and
stop-chamfered lintel, and double batten-and-board doors
protected by a shallow porch with splayed cheeks which are now
integrated with additions to left and right. INTERIOR: a full
set of fine kingpost roof trusses, including the hip and the
junction (which has an open timber frame at 1st floor), all
pegged and chamfered with run-out stops. Former lateral
shippon stalls removed. Forms group with Lower Pimbo Farmhouse
approximately 30 metres north-west (qv).
