Barn. Probably mid to later C19. Coursed squared sandstone,
stone slate roof. Rectangular 5-bay plan on east-west axis,
facing cobbled yard to south. A tall building, with a large
segmental-headed waggon doorway in the centre furnished with
double board doors and protected by a porch with carried-down
roof; slit breathers on 3 levels; and the wall to the left
partly covered by the attached end of the cart-shed (qv). The
rear has a low square-headed waggon doorway with sliding door.
INTERIOR: C19 kingpost roof trusses with princess posts and
diagonal bracing. Forms group with Lower Balcony Farmhouse
(qv), and with coach house and cart shed range on west side of
yard (qv), and cottages (qv) and shippon range on east side
(qv).
